A new facility or location obviously poses new risks. However, subtle changes that may not even be noticeable can often have as big of an impact on your risk profile…sometimes even bigger! Keeping your Risk Assessment current may be the most important maintenance aspect of your entire program. Your Risk Assessment should be updated as soon as there is a significant change in your environment: new sites, applications, platforms, products, processes, suppliers, etc. can all pose significant threats that should be addressed.
An updated Risk Assessment will ensure that you are aware of your risks and have the opportunity to mitigate them before it’s too late. Even when there are no “major changes” to your environment, we recommend a bi-annual refresh to catch the subtle changes. Remember…prevention is always better than recovery!
