After nearly 30 years as an industry, it’s amazing how few real improvements have been made to our standard methodologies. Certainly, technology solutions have exploded as hardware, software and network capabilities have matured. At the same time, constantly improving cost-performance ratios have made it easier for companies to improve their programs by applying that technology. And all the while, the number of “standards”, guidelines and “best practices” are increasing every day.
But, real improvements in methodology—e.g. technique, process, application, theory, philosophy and design—are few and far between. All of the major constructs of the discipline from the BIA to Risk Analysis to Maintenance to Table-top Exercises remain basically unchanged from their inception.
We believe that it is time for a change!
